RailWorx is a new-for-2019 outdoor exhibition for the rail civil engineering and systems industries.
Co-located with PlantWorx, the Construction Equipment Association’s biennial show that attracts over 15,000 visitors on its own, the new joint show will take place at The East of England Arena, Peterborough, on 11-13 June 2019
With £53 billion to be spent on Great Britain’s railways over the next five years, much of it on construction and updated systems, this is an ideal time for the industry to show off what it can do.
Rail Media is the UK’s leading magazine publisher and event organiser for the UK rail industry. RailStaff and Rail Engineer are both published by Rail Media, which also arranges and hosts the RailStaff Awards and the Rail Partnership Awards (in conjunction with Network Rail).
On top of that, Rail Media organises conferences such as the Rail Safety Summit, which will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year, arranges networking events and runs the popular RailwayPeople job board – the largest in the industry.
Unlike other rail industry shows, RailWorx concentrates on both railway systems and civil engineering. So companies involved in signalling, traffic management, communications and electrification will be showing their latest technology and products in dedicated ‘villages’ where complementary technologies can be shown together.
Similarly, ground investigations, surveying, structures monitoring and information management will be seen working together as exhibitors both compete and collaborate.
Engineering consultants will be on hand to talk about the design and planning processes, materials suppliers will demonstrate the construction techniques of the future and major civil engineering contractors will be there to discuss the future with their supply chains.
Organiser of PlantWorx since 2013, the CEA is the trade association that represents the UK construction equipment sector and is recognised by HM Government as the voice of the industry.
Represented in Brussels as active members of the Committee for European Construction Equipment (CECE), the CEA’s influence is felt worldwide through its technical, regulatory and international trade work.
Members can draw on a wide range of services designed to promote the performance of the UK construction equipment industry. These include advice on current and proposed legislation, industry standards and technical issues, information on overseas markets, trade leads and help in making the right contacts for export business, lobbying of government and participation in trade shows at home and abroad.
PlantWorx, which was first held at Stoneleigh Park in May 2013, is the CEA’s flagship event. It was hailed as the UK’s largest ‘working’ construction event, spanning over 100,000 square metres and boasting 260 exhibitors from all areas of the construction equipment industry. 9,500 visitors to the show saw the very latest plant and machinery operating in ‘real’ site conditions, many from ‘big names’ including Case, Caterpillar, Volvo and JCB.
For 2019, and with the show now at Peterborough, 318 exhibitors had already signed up by the beginning of February. It looks to be a bumper year!
